Sorry, but I have to agree with Iakota7sioux..., but the sandwich was cut in halves, held together with toothpicks, then battered with an egg batter (no milk in it, I don't think - but it reminds me a beer-batter vs breaded). And, yes, after cooking cooling a tad, it was topped with a sifted powdered sugar, and served with raspberry jam. One of my fav's - but only occasionally (not for those on a diet)! I miss it so much!!

The monte cristo was the best thing on Bennigan's menu! Too bad they're mostly closed now, but I'm happy to see I can still enjoy this sandwich!

I love bennigans Monte cristo sandwich, but if I'm not mistaken theirs has raspberry preserves on it, and I thought it was deep fried! am I wrong?
