Both sausage and bacon are added to the soup for an extra pop of flavor. Spinach and potatoes add to the body of the recipe. This hearty soup can be served as a main dish for any meal. Since my family is lactose intolerant then I will have to make a few ingredient changes here and there, but I think I can make it work. Reading over some of the comments, I find that some people say it is a bit too spicy and they reduced the sausage by half. Some people liked it as is so I will have to try it both ways.

This soup was so delicious! I used breakfast sausage instead of spicy Italian sausage, which gave it a milder flavor. I only used half the amount of sausage that the recipe called for and I think it was plenty. I really enjoyed this recipe and will definitely be making it again!!

This is my go to soup when we go to Olive Garden an now I have the Copycat recipe After reading the recipe and the comments below I would suggest using a mild sausage for the ones who don't care for the heat I would also use a Soup mop to remove the layer of oil from the top of the soup Or and for the ones who say it's too thin I would add a tablespoon of flour to the pan after saute the onions let it cook for a minute stirring to mix it well with the onions Then add the Chicken stock This step will not only help with the extra oil but will help thicken the soup as well I would cut the cream in half and replace it with whole milk if it was too rich I hope these ideas help the folks below With thatRead More being said I'm making this to night and will serve it with garlic butter bread sticks Thank you so much for sharing this free copycat recipe

This soup was a bit too spicy for me because of the sausage. It also had this weird butter/oil layer that stayed on my lips long after I had finished my bowl. It wasn't as good as I was expecting.

I made this once, and while it was very tasty, you can only eat a cup of it, not even a bowl, because it's so rich with the cream and sausage. It's delicious, but so rich and makes me feel too sluggish afterward that I've had my fill for a few years! lol

Hearty and just a tad spicy from the sausage! This is my favorite Olive Garden soup, but I might like this version even better because it isn't as oily as the restaurant version.

A soup with this much flavor typically takes a very long time to make, so the fact that this took less than an hour and generated so much great flavor and spice is awesome! I've not had this soup at Olive Garden, but now that I have this easy recipe, there's no need to leave the house!

My kids love this soup and it's one of the main reasons we go to The Olive Garden. I have never been a big fan as I always thought it was too bland. However, this soup is so much more flavorful than the restaurant one so I'll be making it for the family ASAP.

It was tasty. Maybe just add bacon to the top as a garnish rather than cooking with it. I'm just not a fan of wet bacon.

The soup was way too thin for my liking. May be it would thicken if it cooked for longer.

I loved how spicy the sausage was. Sausage, potatoes, and bacon are almost always a recipe for success.I wonder tough, since I've never had the Olive Garden original, is the broth supposed to be creamy and thick? Ours turned out a little milky.

I LOVE this soup from Olive Garden. This version was a bit too spicy for me, but I bet if I had the bread sticks to dip in it, it would have been amazing.

This soup is definitely spicy! I would make it again, especially in the fall.

this is a real good recipe. The flavor is great! I used kale instead of spinach, makes the recipe even more like the Olive Garden,s recipe
