Copycat Blue Star Lemon Poppy Buttermilk Donuts
"If you've never had a Blue Star Donut before you haven't lived! They are worth making at home if you're not lucky enough to have a bakery in your city, and of the variety this Lemon Poppy is the BEST! You won't be disappointed in the flavor of these donuts - the PERFECT amount of lemon. Make your belly happy in the mornings with one of these donuts and a cup of coffee! Delish!"

- 2 tablespoons water at room temperature (70° to 90°F)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour (use only Gold Medal, King Arthur, or Pillsbury)
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup plus 1 1/2 tbsp. unbleached all-purpose flour (use only Gold Medal, King Arthur, or Pillsbury)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, cold

Man, I love this place. I'll have to check out this recipe. I live way far away from Blue Star, but man.... do I remember those donuts. SO GOOD.
