That’s what we did when we launched Season with Spice in 2011 on the island of Penang – a spice island in Southeast Asia where nutmeg and clove trees still grow three centuries after the British East India Company transformed the island into a spice entrepôt.
After years living on the island – gaining a stronger understanding of the cultural, historical, environmental, and culinary value of spices, and sharing our experiences on Season with Spice – we packed up our knowledge, moved to the United States, and opened the only spice shop in America founded along the ancient spice route.
