Separating egg yolks and egg whites is my most dreaded kitchen task. From breaking yolks to getting pieces of shell into the mix, I've never found a way to separate them without a headache. New Metro Design's Yolk-O-Mizer is an amazing tool that quickly and easily separates egg yolks from egg whites and stores them in a convenient silicone container. You just crack your eggs into a bowl, press on the top of the Yolk-O-Mizer's dome, and watch as it sucks the yolk into its holder.

The Yolk-O-Mizer comes with a detachable egg wash brush that you take off while separating your yolks and whites, but can put back on when you want to use your stored yolks on a pastry crust. With two tools in one, the Yolk-O-Mizer is a must-have in any kitchen. I no longer worry about my yolks seeping into my whites, so I can make mousses and meringues whenever I want. I love that the Yolk-O-Mizer stores up to four egg yolks at a time, because I don't have to use my ramekins or small drinking glasses to hold them.

The only thing I wish the Yolk-O-Mizer had is a fully closed cover option. When I store my yolks in the fridge, I still need to saran wrap the body of the Yolk-O-Mizer to ensure they don't get tainted by smells or tastes in my fridge. While it isn't difficult to do, it would be handy if the tool came with this option already attached. As long as you keep your yolks covered, this BPA free and dishwasher safe tool will keep them safe and secure until you need them.
