The set is designed with two components: a small pitcher for holding milk or creamer and a small top to place on top for holding sugar cubes. The sugar caddy rests on top of the milk pitcher and when you pour the milk it stays secure all because of gravity. When we used the set, not a bit of sugar fell out. You can even turn the entire thing upside down without the pieces detaching!
