Cooking MethodOven
Ingredients
- 2 (15-ounce) boxes of German Chocolate Cake Mix
- 2 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 100 caramels, unwrapped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon heavy cream
- 2/3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (enough to generously cover the top)
Ingredients
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-
Heavily grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
-
In a large bowl mix the cake mixes, chopped walnuts, 2/3 cup evaporated milk, and melted butter until totally combined.
-
Press half of the mixture into the baking pan.
-
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Take out of the oven.
-
Microwave the caramels with the heavy cream on High for 5-6 minutes, stirring every 1 minute. Continue to microwave until mixture is completely melted.
-
Pour caramel over brownie base. Sprinkle the sea salt over the caramel layer.
-
Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel.
-
Carefully form remainder of the brownie dough to fit on top of the caramel base. If dough base begins to soften and is too hard to move in one piece, divide dough in sections and place over caramel layer.
-
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
-
Cool and refrigerate overnight.
-
Sift the confectioners sugar over the top of the brownies.
-
Carefully remove from the pan and cut into desired size brownies.
Notes
-
If you do not like unwrapping 100 caramels you can use products such as Kraft caramel bits. Combine 4 cups caramel bits with 1cup heavy cream and microwave for 3-4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until the mixture is combined.
